Find answers to common questions about the data and the portal

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access the health facilities data? ▼
Navigate to the Country Data page and select your country of interest. You can explore the interactive map to view facility locations and then download the full dataset in CSV format. All data is openly downloadable.
How do I find a nearby health facility? ▼
Use our Find Facility tool. Allow your browser to detect your location (or enter coordinates manually), select the service type you need, and the system will show you the nearest facilities offering that service on an interactive map.
What file formats are available for download? ▼
Data is provided as CSV — standard comma-separated values for spreadsheet and statistical analysis.
How frequently is the data updated? ▼
Core facility lists are updated quarterly when new data sources become available. Service availability data is refreshed when Ministries of Health publish new registry exports. Coordinate validation is ongoing. Each dataset release includes a version number and changelog so you can track what has changed.
What countries are currently covered? ▼
Coverage is expanding across Sub-Saharan Africa. Visit the Registry Explorer page to see which countries are currently available.
How do I report data quality issues or errors? ▼
If you discover errors or inconsistencies in the data, we appreciate feedback! Email the DET Team with the country, facility name, and a description of the issue.
